About the Role

Benchmark Holidays is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Manager – Accounts to manage day-to-day accounting operations, financial records, statutory compliance, remittances, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with Tally ERP and Zoho Books, strong working knowledge of GST, TDS, General Ledger, and financial accounting standards, and excellent English communication and Microsoft Excel skills.

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing domestic and international supplier payments, handling remittance transactions, monitoring accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring timely financial reporting and compliance. Experience in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Record and maintain daily financial transactions using Tally ERP and Zoho Books.

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts, General Ledger, journal entries, receipts, payments, and expense records.

  • Prepare, verify, and process sales invoices, purchase bills, debit notes, credit notes, payment vouchers, and receipts.

  • Ensure all accounting entries are properly classified, supported by documentation, and recorded accurately.

  • Review accounting entries and supporting documents to maintain financial accuracy.

  • Maintain systematic records of transactions and financial documents for audits and reporting.

2. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable (AP/AR)

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier payments, customer collections, and outstanding balances.

  • Monitor invoices, payment due dates, supplier balances, customer dues, and payment schedules.

  • Coordinate with hotels, airlines, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), transport providers, and other travel partners regarding invoices and settlements.

  • Track customer advances, booking payments, supplier advances, cancellations, and refunds.

  • Reconcile customer and supplier ledgers and resolve discrepancies.

  • Follow up on overdue customer payments and ensure timely supplier settlements.

  • Maintain accurate records of outstanding payables, receivables, advances, and collections.

 

3. Remittance Management & Foreign Currency Transactions

  • Manage domestic and international remittances and ensure payments are processed accurately within scheduled timelines.

  • Handle foreign currency payments and remittances to overseas hotels, airlines, DMCs, destination suppliers, and other international travel partners.

  • Prepare and verify remittance requests, payment instructions, supplier invoices, bank forms, and supporting documents.

  • Coordinate with banks and financial institutions for international fund transfers, payment confirmations, transaction tracking, and remittance-related queries.

  • Maintain accurate records of remittances, foreign currency transactions, exchange rates, bank charges, and payment confirmations.

  • Reconcile remittance transactions with supplier invoices, bank statements, accounts payable, and General Ledger entries.

  • Monitor pending international payments, exchange-rate differences, transaction charges, and payment discrepancies, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable FEMA requirements, RBI guidelines, banking regulations, and relevant tax documentation requirements.

  • Maintain remittance documentation for audits and coordinate with banks, auditors, and tax consultants as required.

4. Statutory Compliance, GST, TDS & Audits

  • Handle GST and TDS calculations, reconciliations, documentation, and applicable statutory compliance activities.

  • Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documents for financial reporting and statutory requirements.

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing GST and TDS returns and related filings within applicable deadlines.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, accounting standards, and internal financial policies.

  • Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and other relevant stakeholders during audits and assessments.

  • Maintain audit-ready financial records and resolve discrepancies identified during reviews.

  • Track compliance deadlines and ensure timely submission of required financial and tax documents.

5. General Ledger & Financial Reconciliation

  • Maintain, review, and reconcile General Ledger accounts.

  • Perform bank, customer, supplier, advance, remittance, and other account reconciliations.

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in accounting entries, payment records, and financial statements.

  • Verify the accuracy of journal entries, ledger postings, and supporting documents.

  • Ensure transactions are recorded in the correct accounting periods and under the appropriate ledger accounts.

  • Maintain accounting accuracy in accordance with established procedures and applicable financial accounting standards.

6. Month-End Closing & MIS Reporting

  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing activities.

  • Prepare reconciliation statements, expense summaries, outstanding reports, and other financial statements as required.

  • Prepare and maintain Management Information System (MIS) reports for management review.

  • Use Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, data validation, reporting, and reconciliations.

  • Review ledger balances, pending transactions, and accounting entries before closing periods.

  • Provide timely financial information to management to support business decisions.

  • Ensure reports and accounting records are accurate and submitted within deadlines.

7. Vendor Coordination & Internal Communication

  • Coordinate with internal departments, suppliers, customers, banks, auditors, and tax consultants on accounting and payment matters.

  • Follow up on pending invoices, payment approvals, supporting documents, collections, and remittances.

  • Work closely with Sales and Operations teams to verify booking details, supplier bills, tour expenses, and payment records.

  • Communicate professionally with domestic and international suppliers regarding invoices, outstanding payments, and financial discrepancies.

  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and follow company approval procedures.

  • Ensure clear documentation and timely resolution of accounting-related queries.

Mandatory Skills & Technical Requirements

Accounting Software

Tally ERP — Mandatory

  • Hands-on experience with sales, purchase, receipt, payment, journal, and ledger entries.

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting records, and financial reporting.

Zoho Books — Mandatory

  • Practical experience in transaction recording, invoicing, bookkeeping, payment tracking, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.

  • Ability to maintain accurate accounting records and monitor outstanding balances.

Taxation & Compliance

  • Strong working knowledge of GST and TDS.

  • Understanding of statutory compliance, tax reconciliations, documentation, and applicable filing requirements.

  • Knowledge of financial accounting standards and audit documentation.

General Ledger & Reconciliation

  • Strong knowledge of General Ledger maintenance and accounting entries.

  • Experience in bank, customer, supplier, advance, and payment reconciliations.

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records.

Remittance & Banking

  • Knowledge of domestic and international remittance processes.

  • Experience with overseas supplier payments, bank transfers, payment tracking, and remittance documentation.

  • Understanding of foreign exchange rates, exchange differences, bank charges, and bank reconciliation.

  • Familiarity with applicable FEMA/RBI requirements and international payment documentation.

Microsoft Excel & MIS Reporting

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

  • Proficiency in VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Excel formulas, data analysis, and MIS Reporting.

  • Ability to prepare financial summaries, reconciliation reports, outstanding statements, and management reports.

Communication & Coordination

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, banks, suppliers, auditors, and international business partners.

  • Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce, such as B.Com, M.Com, or MBA in Finance.

  • CA Inter or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.

  • Minimum 3 Years and Above of relevant experience in accounting and finance.

  • Hands-on experience with both Tally ERP and Zoho Books is mandatory.

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, General Ledger, and reconciliations.

  • Practical knowledge of GST, TDS, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.

  • Experience handling domestic and international remittances is preferred.

  • Experience in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry will be an added advantage.

  • Ability to manage multiple accounting activities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate financial records.
